So as you may or may not know, Raspberry Iguana was actually an idea thought of years ago and was always a goal of mine although the idea has changed from time to time as I've developed my interests, the name has remained a constant, well almost. More about that later though. So as I am sure I have explained already the reason Raspberry Iguana has woken up from it's long hibernation is because of handmade gifts. I started making handmade gifts properly back in university, it was cheap and to be honest it was just fun, it was a break from my usual work. So since then I have been making gifts for friends and family, I suppose how most craft people start. Sometime family would request pieces and sometimes I would give them or make them unique pieces of my own accord.
So to the point, I do not want to get caught up in the focus of handmade canvas bags, although that is my basic product of the moment I want to let everyone know that if their is something special you would like, a unique sentimental gift you would like to give someone or something special just for you that please ask and if I think I can do a good enough job of it then I would be happy to help.
In terms of pieces I have created in the past, they vary. I have uploaded some pictures below so you can see. A few Christmas's ago I made scrapbooks/photo albums for my mum and dad and both sets of grandparents. They contained photos of us in black and white and quotes and memories. They were all made with scraps of papers I had lying around and sometimes stitched. I have also given away some of my artwork, mostly drawings. More recently I have or will be giving my nieces and nephews homemade t-shirts for their birthdays all customised especially for them. I can only show you Poppy's though as I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise for the others. Also for my mum, the queen of future planning I am now making all her Christmas present gift bags for her, just like my bags but Christmas themed and then Santa sacks for all her grandchildren, these will all be personalised with their names on them.
Well I hope that should give you an idea of how I can help make a unique personalised gift for you and your friends and family. Any ideas feel free to e-mail me on raspberry.iguana@me.com or comment on the blog or facebook page. Raspberry Iguana would love to hear from you.

I firstly want to apologise for the lack of blogging in recent times. Unfortunately when setting up a business there are lots of boring official things that need doing before all the fun creative things.
There have been a few stresses and dramas but some positive stepping stones too. So I feel the only way to fully apologise for my lack of communication is to explain what has been happening here in the land of Raspberry Iguana, or my shoe box flat.
So you may recall that my last blog was about naming my sewing machine after my great grandmother, I thought this would bring me sewing luck...or not as it turns out. About ten minutes after completing the blog i went back to sewing and broke my machine. I still to this day do not know how/why. So sewing halted and I felt a bit deflated as I googled over and over again sewing machine mechanics. This was only after about an hour of swearing at screws that wouldn't un-screw and screw drivers that wouldn't un-screw the screws that wouldn't un-screw, I was very frustrated.
So I arranged for a mechanic to come out but I would be at work so I was leaving my boyfriend to deal with it all, I later returned from work to find that the man hadn't come because he had tried calling me but obviously i was at work so didn't answer my phone. With my stress levels raised I called the guy back and arranged for him to come again the following day and luckily he did. I was a little bit disappointed to find that it took him only five minutes of calm and collected work to fix my machine and earn him £50 and had taken me a whole hour of huffing and puffing to decide I needed to part with £50 to get it fixed.
However on a plus note, a very big plus note Raspberry Iguana officially has a bank account, so soon real trading will begin. This is a very exciting and big step. It feels like Raspberry Iguana is properly starting now and I am looking forward to seeing it grow.
The week then had a dentist trip, an Ikea trip and a full working week in the mix. This is what led to the unfortunate lack of blog posts. I want to now make the commitment now that this will not happen again.
I am also pleased to announce that although it has taken longer than expected the website should be up and running Wednesday 13th July 2011 and it will be well worth the wait.
With love
